Strategic Planning Update

November 1, 2024

Timeline:

  1. Oct. 17 - invite extended to Non-members to join so they can help shape the future direction of MPHA

  2. Nov. 1 - email to all MPHA Members with link to participate:

    1. Google form survey: November 1 - November 15, 2024

    2. Listening sessions: November 6, 11 am-12 pm and November 7, 5:30 - 6:30 pm

  3. Nov. 15 - email reminder to all Members survey closes today

  4. mid-Nov. - Longer meeting with members of ‘core team’ (Executive Committee with any other interested members) to develop the strategic plan

  5. Dec. 9 - Draft to Governing Council for approval, then send/present membership for review by Dec. 16

  6. Dec. 17 - revisions, if any by Dec. 20

  7. Jan, 2025 - Membership vote

Overview of strategic planning process

  • October 2018 - Identified Volunteer Facilitator from APHA, Jeanie Holt
  • January 2019 - Affiliate Self-Assessment completed by Governing Council Volunteers
  • February & March 2019 - Jeanie Holt reviewed affiliate self-assessment; all MPHA Committees reviewed current strategic plan (guided by discussion questions) and co-chairs captured committee feedback
  • April 16-20, 2019 - Strategic Planning Activity "Creative Chaos" survey (instead of during MPHA Annual Conference Business Meeting originally scheduled for April 12). Notes brought to the strategic planning retreat, along with Committee input.
  • April 26, 2019 - Strategic Planning Retreat with Jeanie Holt for MPHA Governing Council
  • May 2019 - results and recommendations shared with MPHA members
  • June 7, 2019 - process to date shared at MPHA Annual Conference Business Meeting
  • July & August 2019 - Governing Council refined plan
  • September & October - additional feedback from Jeanie Holt
  • October 21-30, 2019 - Strategic plan sent to MPHA Members for vote. Need 8% of Members voting yes to adopt the plan. Member approved on Oct. 30, 2019
  • November 14, 2019 - January 9, 2020 - Governing Council works on work plan

A note of appreciation to ALL who have worked on this, including the MPHA Members who completed the 'creative chaos' survey, respondents to the affiliate self-assessment, those who participated in the strategic planning retreat, discussions at monthly committee meetings, attendees who gave input at our annual conference wall stations, the Governing Council, and APHA's facilitator, Jeanie Holt.
