About the Conference

The Minnesota Public Health Association (MPHA)’s Annual Conference will be held May 15 - 16, 2025 in-person at Greysolon Ballroom by Black Woods in Duluth, MN. A virtual component will also be available. The conference will run Thursday, May 15 from 10 am - 5:15 pm and on Friday, May 16 from 8 am - 3:30 pm.

This year’s theme, Resilient Communities: Advancing Health Equity through Collective Action, Policy, and Partnerships, will explore how community resilience, collaborative action, and equitable partnerships can drive transformative change in public health. This conference will highlight the power of community-led health interventions to address social and structural determinants of health, challenge health inequities, and reshape public health systems. By focusing on collective community power, we aim to foster spaces where data justice, equitable decision-making, and shared ownership of health outcomes are prioritized.

Continuing Education hours will be available. Application is being made for 9.0 CEU hours (CHES, CPH, Nursing, and Social Work) and a general certificate will be available upon request.

The logo for this year's conference draws inspiration from Duluth's landmarks and rich history with the area's Native and Indigenous population—the Ojibwe, also known as the Anishinaabe, the traditional stewards of the land, the Dakota and Northern Cheyenne People, and the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. The vision was to create a visual that speaks to the intersection of Duluth's cultural aspects, landmarks, and our conference theme of community resilience.

The design is centered around the iconic silhouette of the Aerial Lift Bridge and incorporates abstract lines that reflect Lake Superior. The group circle symbolizes community, and the rising sun, signifying hope.

The color palette reflects Duluth's vibrant Native and Indigenous population landscape—inspired by the Spirit of Eagles medicine wheel painting by Chholing Taha, 2010. This logo serves as a visual reminder of how place, people, and public health are deeply interconnected.

We especially thank the Annual Planning Committee for their involvement in guiding our vision for this year's conference and visuals.
