MPHA Policy Resolution Process

All members of Minnesota Public Health Association are encouraged to develop policy resolutions for consideration by the Policy & Advocacy Committee.

Before you start, please review this sample resolution to understand the format we use for resolutions.

Also, please check the resolution handbook to see if we have an existing resolution on the topic. If so, consider whether the existing resolution can simply be updated to reflect current circumstances.

If you decide you would like to draft or update a resolution, email the Policy & Advocacy Committee at to inform the co-chairs.

  1. Once you've drafted your resolution, the Policy & Advocacy Committee will review.
  2. Then you will send your resolution to be reviewed by external reviewers.
  3. Then the Governing Council will review.
  4. Finally, the full membership will review (resolution posted on this website at least 15 days prior to the Annual Meeting) and vote to approve the resolution at the Annual Meeting, or if the resolution is time-sensitive, an email vote can be arranged. According to our bylaws, an 8% quorum is required to consider the vote valid.
If you have questions at any time, reach out to Policy & Advocacy Committee Co-Chairs at
