Minnesota Public Health Association

Since 1907, MPHA has been dedicated to creating a healthier Minnesota through effective public health practice and engaged citizens.

MPHA Policy Resolution Process

All members of Minnesota Public Health Association are encouraged to develop policy resolutions for consideration by the Policy & Advocacy Committee.

Before you start, please review this sample resolution to understand the format we use for resolutions.

Also, please check the resolution handbook to see if we have an existing resolution on the topic. If so, consider whether the existing resolution can simply be updated to reflect current circumstances.

Interested in drafting or updating a resolution?

Please email the Policy & Advocacy Committee at policy@mpha.net to inform the co-chairs.

Resolution adoption process:

1. Once you've drafted your resolution, the Policy & Advocacy Committee will review.

2. Then you will send your resolution to be reviewed by external reviewers.

3. Next the Governing Council reviews.

4. Finally, the full membership reviews (resolution posted on this website at least 15 days prior to thAnnual Business Meeting) and votes to approve the resolution. (Resolution voting is typically brought to the Annual Business Meeting, but if the resolution is time-sensitive, an electronic vote can be arranged.) According to our bylaws, an 8% quorum is required to consider the vote valid.

If you have questions at any time, please email the Policy & Advocacy Committee.
