Conference Overview:


The 2017 Minnesota Public Health Association (MPHA) conference will highlight progress being made across the state to advance health equity. The breakout session themes include implementation of local and state strategies to advance health equity, cross-sector and cross-cultural partnership as well as community engagement and evidence-based practices in behavioral health and chronic disease. Critical conversations and opportunities for action planning are embedded throughout the two-day event.



Conference Objectives:

  • Share details of how Minnesota is addressing social determinants that support health.

  • Describe positive changes in health outcomes related to health equity.

  • Adapt strategies to advance health equity at the individual, organizational or community level.

  • Participate where further effort is needed.


Audience:

All stakeholders interested in improving the health of Minnesota communities.

The MPHA conference will be held on the second floor of the hotel. Upon entering the hotel, take the escalator, steps, or elevator to the 2nd floor, to check in at the MPHA registration tables.


A private nursing mothers room is also available on the second floor.


Transportation:

Parking: The closest parking ramp is the University of Minnesota Washington Avenue ramp. In the event it is full, the University ramp is the next closest. Unfortunately, MPHA is unable to offer discounted parking. Click HERE for parking ramp rates.


The Commons Hotel is conveniently located on the Metro Light Rail - Green Line.

Scholarships: * New this year*

MPHA is committed to ensuring that conference participants from priority populations, people of color and American Indians, LGBTQ communities and others attend and participate in our annual conference.  We have scholarships for registration and membership, for those that identify themselves with one of these priority populations, or for those that have a special interest in advancing healthy equity in any one of these populations. In addition, a limited number of scholarships are available through a lottery to support attendees traveling 100 + miles to attend the conference, or, who work for an agency with a general operating budget of less than $50,000.

Continuing Education Credits:

Application for CHES (entry-level)/MCHES (advanced-level) Category I continuing education contract hours (CECH) is being made to the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing Inc. (NCHEC). Application to the National Board of Public Health Examiners is also being made for Certified in Public Health (CPH) credits. Eight contact hours are available for nurses.
