2016‐2017 MPHA “Public Health Matters” Policy Forum Series: Why is THIS Public Health?
This year’s four forums will explore some uncommon topics that have stirred interest in the public health community. They will be thought-provoking conversations sure to spark ideas among all of us about our public health roles in a changing world.
Forum 1: November 4, 2016 Mental Health and the Health Care System Panelists and forum participants will explore concerns related to health system capacity and our community response to mental and behavioral health.
Forum 2: January 20, 2017 Community Planning and Development This forum will explore topics related to community planning and development that is in-tune with residents’ public health needs and social determinants of health principles. Forum 3: March 24, 2017 Our changed and Changing Society At this third forum panelists and participants will explore and discuss societal/community responses to gun violence, racism, immigration and our policies of inclusion and exclusion. All forums are held at the New Brighton Community Center, located at 400 10th St. NW in New Brighton. Breakfast and on-site registration begins at 7:00am. Each forum starts promptly at 7:30am and concludes at 9:00am.
