In February, Health Care Without Harm, an international leader in the pursuit of healthcare environmentalism, named employee engagement as one of the “top three trends to look out for in 2016” (HCWH, 2016). Nurses, as both engaged employees and engaged citizens, can be a key force in preserving a life-sustaining climate on our planet. Let us, together and with one voice - the powerful, trusted voice of nursing - advocate for our patients, ourselves, and our future. Let us unite in taking action on climate change, creating a more just and livable world for those entrusted to our care. We invite you to join us on Earth Day to learn how you can unite with the School of Nursing to become leaders in taking on climate change.

Rachel Kerr, DNP, BS, RN, OCN is currently pursuing a DNP degree at the University of Minnesota in Health Innovation and Leadership.  She is focused on using her nursing expertise to examine and intervene the effects of climate change on the health of vulnerable and underserved populations, both locally and globally.

Shanda Lembeck, DNP(s), BSN, RN, PHN is currently pursuing a DNP degree at the University of Minnesota in Health Innovation and Leadership.  She teaches BSN clinical and laboratory courses and practices locally as a cardiovascular nurse.  Shanda sees climate changes as humans' #1 public health threat.

 Teddie Potter, PhD, RN, FAAN is the coordinator of the Doctor of Nursing Practice in Health Innovation and Leadership, and she is the Director of Inclusivity and Diversity in the University of Minnesota School of Nursing.  In 2014, Teddie represented nursing as she marched through the streets of NYC as part of the People's Climate Movement.  She co-teaches the Grand Challenge course:  The Global Climate Challenge:  Creating an Empowered Movement for Change.

 Eileen Weber, DNP, JD, PHN,BSN,RN is a nurse attorney and clinical assistant professor at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing.  She has extensive experience in legislative lobbying, community activism, and political intersection of law, public policy and interprofessional practice and education.
